Sponsored content and advertisement features
Water and Sewerage Journal (WSJ) produces a variety of content with funding from outside parties.
These sources of revenue allow us to explore extra topics that we hope are of interest to our readers. The presentation of the content makes clear how the content has been commissioned and produced, and who has funded it.
One of two labels will appear on this content: ‘Sponsored by’ or ‘Brought to you by’
‘Sponsored by’ is used to describe editorially independent content. We accept funding from sponsors both for content we are already producing and for new content.
Before sponsorship is agreed with a client, relevant editors are consulted about its suitability and have the final say on whether a sponsorship deal is accepted.
A sponsor whose branding appears on editorial content has a role in suggesting what kind of topics are covered, but WSJ is not obliged to accept those ideas. The content is written and/or edited by WSJ editors, or those approved by WSJ, to the same standards expected in all of our journalism. WSJ does show copy to sponsors prior to publishing.
Brought to you by
‘Brought to you by’ is used to describe advertisement features that are paid for and controlled by the advertiser rather than the publisher and are subject to regulation by the Advertising Standards Authority.
This content is produced by commercial departments and does not involve WSJ journalists.
